Educational text: What’s the Issue? Australia’s Water Shortage. By Greg Reid
What’s the Issue? Australia’s Water Shortage. By Greg Reid is a beneficial and rich resource which enhances and supports students learning and understanding of water conservation. The educational text explains to students why water shortages are an issue? , the demand on Australia’s water resources, the water
cycle, natural causes of Australia’s water shortage, human causes of Australia’s water shortage such as water consumption, climate change , Australia’s growing population, how have Australia’s water resources been managed over time? , how is Australia’s water used? , the national ‘Water for the Future’ strategy, desalination , conserving Australia’s water resources and the future of Australia’s water resource. This text is an extremely informative and useful educational
resource which can be used to enhance and support students learning and understanding about water conservation. I would preferably read this text over a couple of session and read certain sections relevant to what I am educating my students about in relation to water conservation. Whilst reading the text to students I will discuss all the important information, issues, key ideas and terms used on the page. I will ensure to regularly question my students and allow them to express their thoughts and ask questions as I want my students to have an active role whilst I am reading the text to them. Then as a whole class we will brainstorm what we learnt from the text, any interesting information gained and any questions that we have from exploring the rich and informative text.. (Please refer to text provided)
